ASSIGNMENTS and EXAMINATIONS
Show & Tell (extra credit)
Every class meeting will begin with a Show & Tell, in which students (and instructors) tell of decisions they've encountered in the world outside the classroom since the last class meeting. Extra credit is available for exceptional performance here, as for exceptional performance in group work. (See Decision Counseling.)
Decision Analyses
During the course, you will do a number of decision analyses. (See Using Portland State University's Blackboard to see how to obtain instructions for each assignment and how to submit completed assignments.)
Each decision analysis assignment will consist of four sub-assignments:
Final Examination
A final examination will test your ability to think about decision problems without using a computer aid. Click here for a sample final examination.
Decision Counseling (extra credit)
Every time the course is taught, some students emerge as leaders in the group work we do in class. They not only understand the material and its importance but are also able to help others to come to this understanding. They'll be given extra credit, and some may be offered a Teaching Assistantship, for which they would get course credit, the next time the course is taught.
